FPI Continues Buying Spree, Invests Over ₹45,000 Crores in July

FPI Inflow Shows Positive Trend in Indian Share Market

New Delhi, Business Desk: Foreign Portfolio Investors (FPIs) have once again made investments in the Indian share market this month. In July, FPIs have invested more than ₹45,365 crores in Indian shares, indicating their positive outlook towards the Indian share market. However, it is speculated that the pace of this buying spree might slow down. Last week, even before the meeting of the American Federal Reserve, FPIs turned net sellers during two trading days.

  • FPI Figures:

According to various reports, FPIs have been continuously purchasing Indian shares since March. In this month alone, they invested ₹45,365 crores. In July, FPIs sold shares on only one trading day. This figure includes investments made through stock exchanges as well as through bulk deals and primary markets. Over the last three months, FPIs have invested ₹1.36 lakh crores in Indian share markets from May to July. Prior to March, foreign investors had withdrawn ₹34,626 crores in January and February.

Depository Figures:  Depository figures reveal that FPI inflow in the Indian share market has reached ₹1.22 lakh crores. It is now over ₹20,000 crores more than the figure recorded earlier this year. During the review period, foreign investors have invested ₹3,340 crores in the Indian debt market, apart from equities.

Sectors Attracting FPI Investments: FPIs have continued investing in the financial, automobile, capital goods, real estate, and FMCG sectors.
