BJP, Shiv Sena and NCP Leaders to Hold Crucial Meeting with PM Modi and Amit Shah
Chhatrapati Sambhaji Nagar, Maharashtra – The suspense over the next Chief Minister of Maharashtra continues as the Mahayuti alliance gears up for crucial discussions in Delhi on Thursday. Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) leader Ajit Pawar, addressing the media on Wednesday, confirmed that leaders from the BJP, Shiv Sena and NCP will finalize the decision after a high-level meeting.
Top Leaders Head to Delhi for Final Talks
Ajit Pawar revealed that he, Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis, and caretaker Chief Minister Eknath Shinde will travel to the national capital for talks with Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Home Minister Amit Shah.
“All three of us—Devendra Fadnavis, Eknath Shinde, and myself—are heading to Delhi tomorrow. Discussions regarding the formation of the government, including the Chief Minister and two Deputy Chief Ministers, will take place. A final decision will be made after these deliberations,” said Pawar, who previously served as Deputy Chief Minister of the state.
Shinde Ready to Step Aside if Necessary
Caretaker Chief Minister Eknath Shinde emphasized his commitment to the alliance and expressed readiness to step aside if required. Speaking at a press conference in Mumbai, Shinde stated, “I have assured the Prime Minister that if my presence creates any hurdles in forming the government, I will fully support whatever decision he makes.”
Shinde also reaffirmed his dedication to public service, highlighting that his role as Chief Minister was never about power. “I have always considered myself a common man, not a Chief Minister. My focus has been on addressing the pain and struggles of citizens,” he said.
Mahayuti to Finalize Leadership Structure
The Sena leader also assured that Shiv Sainiks would support the Mahayuti’s collective decision on the Chief Ministerial post. “Whoever is elected by the alliance, we will stand behind them,” he added.
Meanwhile, BJP leader Devendra Fadnavis, who played a key role in the Mahayuti’s electoral strategy, has already reached Delhi. He is expected to meet the BJP leadership to help break the deadlock.
Victory Yet Unresolved?
The Mahayuti alliance, comprising the BJP, Shinde-led Shiv Sena, and Ajit Pawar’s faction of the NCP, emerged victorious in the recent Maharashtra assembly elections, winning 230 seats out of 288. The BJP secured the largest share with 132 seats, while Shiv Sena and the NCP won 57 and 41 seats, respectively.
Despite the strong majority, the alliance has struggled to finalize its leadership structure, leading to speculation and mounting pressure from within the parties.
Key Meeting with Modi, Shah on Thursday
A meeting involving PM Modi, Home Minister Amit Shah, and the Mahayuti leaders is scheduled for Thursday in Delhi. The decision on the Chief Minister and Deputy Chief Ministers is expected to be announced shortly after these discussions.The political climate in Maharashtra remains tense as the state awaits clarity on its next leadership.
